Two Republicans denounced their former party president.
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) fully supported fellow Rep. Tom Rice’s (R-S.C.) recent criticism of Donald Trump as an aspiring, cruel, and oppressive ruler.
“Our country needs Republicans to be sane, responsible and speak the truth, [and] Rep. Tom Rice is right, most of our Republican colleagues know this–their silence enables the danger,” she said on Twitter.

GOP congressman calls Trump ‘a would-be tyrant’ | TheHill https://t.co/0PYw8RMsMk
The remarks came after Trump formally endorsed GOP candidate Russell Fry to potentially replace Rice during a March 12 rally in Florence, S.C.
“If you want a congressman who supports political violence in Ukraine or in the U.S. Capitol; who supports party over country; who supports a would-be tyrant over the Constitution; and who makes decisions based solely on re-election then Russell Fry is your candidate,” Rice said in a statement obtained by WBTV News.
The incumbent previously voted to impeach the former president for allegedly inciting the 2021 Capitol riots.
“I took one vote he did not like and now he has chosen to support a yes man candidate who has and will bow to anything he says no matter what,” he said according to the broadcaster.
“If you want a congressman who cowers to no man, who votes for what is right, even when it is hard–and who has fought like hell for the Grand Strand and Pee Dee–then I hope to earn your vote,” he added.
